At RELC II, we truly believe that it takes a village to raise successful children, so we seek to actively engage students’ families. Our open-door policy, respect, and responsiveness assure family members that they may visit or call whenever necessary to discuss any concerns and share their vision for their children. Families participate in most of our school events, from performances where they see their children’s talent and confidence to individual teacher conferences. Additionally, families are acknowledged and celebrated during our Annual Ladies to Leaders and Boys to Men Luncheons.

High School Information
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Welcome to the new school year—and to high school admissions! Whether your family is participating in blended or all-remote learning this fall, we are committed to providing the information and support you need during the high school application process.
COVID-19 has had a profound impact across every aspect of our school system, including the admissions process. As a result, we’re updating our pre-pandemic admissions timeline to ensure ample time for families to explore schools and apply once the application launches. Please note:
- The high school application is not yet open, and no longer closes on December 4, 2020. You will have additional time to apply.
- Specialized High Schools registration is not yet open, and no longer closes on October 21, 2020. You will have additional time to register.
- Dates and locations for the high school fairs, the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT), and LaGuardia High School auditions—as listed in the 2021 NYC High School and Specialized High Schools Admissions Guide—will also change.
We appreciate your patience and will be in touch with more detailed information and timelines as soon as we can. Here’s what you can do now:

- Watch our new video series and stay tuned for future videos.
- Read our High School and Specialized High Schools Admissions Guide online. Print copies will be available at middle schools by early November. Please note that some information in this guide—such as dates, deadlines, and event information—was accurate at the time of publication but is now being adjusted due to the impact of COVID-19.
- Make an appointment with your current school counselor to discuss your plans for high school. They will be your best resource and guide throughout the admissions process.
- Explore schools and programs
- Browse options by borough in the admissions guide.
- Learn about programs in detail and search for schools by course offerings, location, sports, and more in the MySchools high school directory.
- Make a list of programs that interest you.
What’s next?
Later this fall, you will receive a personalized Welcome Letter, which includes a unique code to access your MySchools account. We’ll let you know when letters are on the way. This letter will also include information on how to use MySchools to:
- Apply to high school.
- Register to take the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT) and to audition for LaGuardia High School.
